Chat Roulette stats are in from a film-maker who's become strangely interested in the feature. "And like everyone else on the planet I quickly became obsessed," he says. The new site at chatroulette.com which launched in November and describes itself as a "brand new service for one-on-one text, webcam and microphone-based chat with people around the world," has taken off seriously over the last two weeks is proving a worldwide sensation and has been described as "surreal", "addictive" and "frightening." As two random people with webcams suddenly come face to face, being "nexted" and moved on from is the ultimate insult. Have you tried it yet?

Chat Roulette is a curious case as it sets itself up as a potential haven for exhibitionism and voyeurism:

"Veteran blogger Jason Kottke, who has spent years documenting some of the web's most weird and wonderful corners, tried the site and then wrote about witnessing nudity, sexual activity and strange behaviour. "I observed several people drinking malt liquor, two girls making out, many, many guys who disconnected as soon as they saw I wasn't female, [and] several girls who disconnected after seeing my face," he said, adding that he also witnessed "three couples having sex and 11 erect penises"." But according to a er.. strangely dedicated film-maker who spent quite a bit of time on the site in the name of film-making, 71% are men, 15% are women and 14% are perverts - which might sound surprising. In a world where we believe that most people on the internet are perverts (tamed down slightly through Twitter as it's easier to randomly connect with Tom, Dick and Harry style human beings) 14% seems incredibly low. How have your experiences been, and have they varied as much as the two testimonies above? We've spotted this person who's spent their Chat Roulette time making their eye look like, well, other things..
