As many Londoners know, sadly on September 18th the popular and free 'The London Paper' was forced to close leaving hundreds of thousands of commuters disappointed by its less popular rival 'London Lite'. But its not the compelling news articles or the funny em cartoons that will be missed, No it will be The London Paper's very own 'Lovestruck' column.

'Lovestruck' allowed readers to try contact someone they liked on the tube but were too shy to say so at the time, by describing where they were and what they wore at this chance meeting. So what are all those lonely hearts out there to do now if they see their potential soul mate?

Well hopefully if a new social networking site over in New Zealand called Blinka gets popular enough, Londoners might see the return of such a service in the UK one day. The website allows users to log their 'moment' they shared with someone and hope that they respond. Better still, your moment might match with someone else's already logged moment and Bob's your uncle you've got a date for next Friday.

The good thing about this idea is that its not just limited to meeting someone you fancy, its also advertised as a tool for meeting up with people you knew (say when you were trying to find yourself traveling around Thailand last year) but didn't get the chance to get their contact details. This works when you don't know their name (as surely it would be easier to just go on facebook) but might not work when you're looking for that person you had a great night getting drunk with at the Full Moon Party August 2008 who had that crazy face paint on.

Obviously it will only be effective if it gets popular enough for both parties concerned to know about it; the great thing about The London Paper was that it was almost always available (even if it was from being shoved in your face by one of the workers) and usually limited to chance meetings on buses and trains...not a whole country.

Not that many of our readers can use the website, its still worth checking out to see how it transformed Michelle's life!
