With Christmas comes a lot of merryment, especially with all the office Christmas parties going on...well tis the season to be jolly after all. It's also a time when there are a lot more warnings about not drinking too much and generally being safe when you're out and about and getting home.

If all the tv, radio and banner adverts weren't enough to get the message though iPhone users can now download an app from the NHS to track their drinking. The app seems easy enough to use, well at least whilst sobre, and has pictures of the different type of drinks. You add all the drinks up as you go which is plotted on a graph so you can see if you've gone over the dreaded red marker point (the recommended daily amount).

I like the idea and I have to say it was interesting totting up and finding out how many units I consumed for the past few times i've gone out but i can't see someone using it whilst drinking and thinking "I should better stop now".

I could have probably done with this app at a client's Christmas party the other night...although I'm not sure I'd need an app to tell me I was over the limit.
