Nissan are currently developing a new iPhone application for their upcoming electric cars the ‘Nissan LEAF’ due to release in Japan in 2010 and the United States in 2012 that will enable owners to control their car.

Thanks to the app owners will be able to know the amount of charge left in the batteries, the cost to recharge them depending on the station’s prices but also, and probably the best part , they will be able to control their A/C or heater (depending on the season) from long distance. Ok so maybe I was a little misleading in the title but its still pretty amazing huh?

The benefit, Nissan said, is cooling down a hot electric car while it’s still connected to a charging station is more energy-efficient and easier on battery drain, than when the car is actually on the road.

It seems the number of iPhone applications keeps on rising with a total of nearly 60,000 applications and with 37,000 apps created over the last months.

Could I get one to clean my apartment?
