Two years ago when I came to London I didn't know where the nearest Tube station was. So many times I got lost and wished I could have some ability to recognise my position in the city, I wished I could be likeArnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator and see the world through his eyes.

How many times have you wished you could have all the information you need just by looking at things? Well now, with augmented reality, you can. According to the BBC "via the video function of a mobile phone's camera it is now possible to combine a regular pictorial view with added data from the internet just as the fictional Terminator was able to overlay its view of the world with vital information about its surroundings."

UK-firm Acrossair is near to launching the aptly named 'Nearest tube' iPhone application for Londoners to find their nearest tube station just by pointing their iPhone around. Pointing the iPhone vertically will show the tube names, how far they are from you and what lines serve them. Pointing the iPhone horizontally will show all 13 lines of the underground as different coloured arrows pointing to the direction of the nearest station.

Now I just need to get an iPhone!
