Any criticism of this idea seems to be directed at U2's Bono, which was a clever move by Youtube. On Sunday October 25th at 8:30pm PT the internet will see Youtube's continued efforts to break into the live streaming sector with the live airing of a U2 concert, available through the U2 channel to 16 countries. Whilst there's a lot of Bono-bashing in the world regardless of this new venture, a lot of people will be excited about this free content. Not only this, but they've got a Twitter channel involved for Bono-tastic updates throughout the show.
This follows their previous efforts to act as a sensible TV channel by streaming a full-length version of 'Taxi Driver' - for which they did the same thing on Twitter with a live feed of chitchat. It's not a massive leap but the break into live content is a great one.
It's not entirely clear how far ahead of TV channels airing the content Youtube is, but as they admitted last year, entering as a competitor for live content will be expensive.
